The jubilee action, devoted to the 120th anniversary of the classic of Chuvash literature, poet and enlightener Constantine Ivanov, is held today, September 8, in the village Slakbash, Belebeevsky region of Bashkortostan. The official delegation from Chuvashia, headed by the deputy Minister of culture of Chuvash republic Vyacheslaw Foshin is taking part in it. The daughter of another famous Chuvash poet Jacob Ukhsay- Helen Ukhsay – also arrived from Moscow to join the celebrity.
In the morning the guests have already visited the monuments to Constantine Ivanov and Jacob Ukhsay and put flowers on them. Further they intend to meet with the residents and pupils of the village Slakbash and to take part in the musical-poetical evening show.
For his short life Constatine Ivanov has collected and written down plenty of lyrical and ritual songs and texts of Chuvash pagan prayers. He translated the poems of Lermontov, Ogarev, Koltsov and Nekrasov into his native language, wrote his own fairy tales and ballads. The poem “NARSPI” is considered one of his most popular works; it is translated into many world languages. Several plays were staged by its motives and the opera was staged by the Chuvash Theater of opera and ballet.
