Christian believers collect welfare for burnt down people

author: Eugene Rakhimkulov

The charitable action in support of those citizens of Bashkortostan, who have suffered from the fires this summer, started in Ufa eparchy today. During the action warm clothes and donations from the parishioners will be accepted in all Christian churches.

The archbishop of Ufa and Sterlitamac Nikon addressed himself to the parish with the call to help the burnt down people yesterday.

“Grave trial fell on our country this summer – the strongest heat and, as a result, the drought and numerous fires” – said in the Archbishop’s message – “The calamity hasn’t passed our Republic around. Many people were deprived of their roofs and the most necessary things. Any trial is given to us by the God and thereby the Almighty checks our tolerance, our belief, our mercy and love for our neighbors. The state and its social services render assistance to the people, suffering from the fires, but the Church mustn’t stay aside this time too. I am urging all parishioners to respond this all-national disaster”.

The charity action will last till October 3, 2010.
