The President of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov stated he wasn’t going to refuse from naming himself the President, like the head of Chechen Republic Ramzan Kadyrov proposed, at least in the nearest future.
“Really the talks about possible renaming of the presidential posts in some Russian regions are actively ventilated in the mass-media now and certain number of the regional presidents has already expressed their opinions to this respect. But I am heading this region during just one month. I assumed this office exactly as the President RB and I took the oath of fidelity to my population with my hand on the Constitution RB also as the President RB. I regard myself as a man of word and can’t make the decision about renaming of the CEO in our Republic with the same easiness as some of my more experienced colleagues have already done. If the corresponding law had been passed at the federal level, sure, I would have followed it. If the question how the head of Bashkortostan should be named depends on my choice, I wouldn’t like to make any hasty changes. I have to think it over and to consult with the deputies of the State Council RB and other respected people in the Republic first.
