100 tons of hemp and poppy is liquidated in Bashkortostan

The news service of the Republican drug police reports the dry and unusually hot weather contributed much to appearance of the abundant harvests of wild hemp. The first stage of the all-Russian interdepartmental operation “Poppy” has finished on July 31. In the course of it the Bashkir drug police with the help of the officers of the Ministry of internal affairs in RB, FSS, the custom-house and the Emergencies Ministry in RB has liquidated more than 100 tons of hemp and poppy.

In total complexity 73 ground areas with the overall square 137 hectares have been discovered. The largest area with wild hemp was found out in Meleuzovsky region of Bashkortostan. The whole 25-hectare field was discovered in one village directly behind the local school. These plantations are liquidated either with the help of the chemicals or simply ploughing them up again. This operation has to be repeated every year because the hemp likes to grow on one and the same place. Along with the wild hemp the policemen have arrested 82 kg of the ready-made drugs.
