The female choir of the Zagir Ismagilov Ufa State Academy of Arts became the prizewinner of the World Choir Games in China. Its performance received high accolades of the jury. At the concluding ceremony organized in the hall sitting seven thousand people, the choir was awarded the silver medal.
According to Amina Asfandiarova, the pro-rector of Ufa Academy of Arts for academic and educational affairs, the choir from Bashkortostan was invited to the choral competition for the first time.
"It was a very honourable and responsible mission for us. We defended the whole Republic and our native Academy, which believed in us and lent great support in organization of the trip," Amina Asfandiarova said.
According to her, the 6th World Choir Games were held in the city of Shaoxing (China) on from July 15 until July 26 and concurred with the celebration of the 2500th anniversary of the city. While being at the World forum, the choir of Ufa Academy of Arts represented our republic at numerous festive events, concerts and seminars.
We would add that the World Choir Games is the major choir contest. It is held once in two years and gathers choirs from all over the world. Over 20 thousand people from 83 countries participated in the Games this year. Russia was represented by 22 choir teams. The total amount of awards won by Russian choirs comes to 14.
Two years ago, in 2008, the choir competition was organized in Austria. The USA will host the next Games that will be in 2012.
