Life in Russia is becoming more expensive

In the first quarter of 2010 the value of the subsistence wage is higher than in the fourth quarter of 2009. In a whole the value of the subsistence wage per capita in the country will make up 5518 rubles (5144 rubles in the 4th quarter of 2009), 5956 rubles – for able-bodied population (5562 rubles earlier), 4395 rubles – for pensioners (4091 rubles) and 5312 rubles – for kids (4922 rubles).

In accordance with the federal law from 24.10.1997 N134-FZ “The subsistence wage in Russian Federation” the value of the subsistence wage is determined every quarter on the base of the consumer basket and the information of the Russian State Statistics Committee about the level of the consumer food and non-food prices and the expenses for obligatory payments.
