The meeting of the graduates of environmental engineering department of 2000 took place in the Bashkir State Agrarian University. They were the first graduates of this department, which is now called the department of land and forest management.

The graduates, management and leading lecturers of the department took part in the meeting.

"We have gathered together to recollect our history," Vagiz Faskhutdinov, the former dean of the department, said. "Land problem has been topical at all times, and the foundation of environmental engineering department became an important step both for the University and for regional economy. There were few specialists in environmental engineering and land management in Bashkortostan before 2000. We managed to develop educational system at short notice. We have gradually acquired our own style and traditions."

Now the graduates of 2000 occupy key posts in the ministries of agriculture and forestry, the Directorate of the Federal Service, Cadastral Records and Cartography for Bashkortostan, and other organizations and agencies of the Republic and other regions. According to many lecturers, yearly projects and graduation papers of the first graduates remain the best on the department. Besides, it was the first studies in this field at that moment.

The department of land and forest management is one of the youngest and most promising in the BSAU. According to its dean Kamil Gabdrakhimov, the best school-leavers of city and rural schools come to study here.

"We have opened several laboratories. Students take active part in the sporting life of the University," the dean of the department said. "Close contacts with relevant ministries play an important role in subsequent job placement of our students."

The graduates thanked lecturers for the years of study and presented them with souvenirs. All participants of the meeting agreed that such meetings must become a heart-warming tradition of the University. The question about the creation of the association of graduates in the BSAU will be considered.
