Rail Sarbaev, the Prime Minister of the Government of Bashkortostan conducted negotiations with delegation of Switzerland

Today Rail Sarbaev, the Prime minister of the Government of Bashkortostan met with the delegation of the Switzerland arrived in the republic with its working visit.

It is headed by the Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Swiss Confederation in Russia Walter Bruno Gyger. It is his first visit to Bashkortostan.

—There are good relations between our countries, — M-r Gyger underlined during the conversation. — Switzerland intends to strengthen relations with the Russian regions. Bashkortostan, thanking its economic potential, it is paid special attention, — the diplomat said.

Rail Sarbaev also expressed interest in the further cooperation. Especially, the Prime minister marked that «the volume of the foreign trade turnover with Switzerland leaves much to be desired. Following the results of the last year it made only about 3,5 million US dollars. For the last 4 months of 2010 it was hardly more than two million dollars».

Among the most perspective directions, the Prime Minister of Government RB named projects in the sphere of timber processing, public health services and pharmaceutical industry. There was also discussed investment cooperation in the interbank sphere, agriculture, and also in the area of small and medium business. Rail Sarbaev named as an example of successful introduction of high technologies from Switzerland the Ufa transformer factory on which the Swiss equipment is established.

Bashkortostan successfully co-operates with Switzerland and in the area of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation between Russia and the Swiss Confederation.

The representatives of the Swiss delegation will be acknowleged in a more detailed way with investment projects of Bashkortostan during a special presentation. Within the framework of their trip, they plan to visit the Ufa transformer factory, "Alekseevsky" farm, the Bashkir State University.

The Protocol signed in March, 1994 on development partner relations between Bashkortostan and the Friburg Canton, providing an establishment of relations in the field of economy, culture and tourism is the legal basis for cooperation between Bashkortostan and Switzerland.

Mainly productions of mechanical engineering and metal ware are imported to our republic. Chemical products are exported to Switzerland.

We have successful cooperation in the area of public health services, science and education, in humanitarian and cultural spheres.

Within the framework of the Swiss program of support to noncommercial organisations financial means from the state budget of Switzerland were granted to the Bashkir republican society of refugees and the forced migrants for the project of children and forced migrants rehabilitation, and also for settlement construction in the residential area "Nagaevo".

Since recent time there is a Society of Compatriots "Ural" in the Swiss Confederation.
