The VIII international ethnic-cultural expedition “Volga is the river of peace: the dialogue of Volga nations’ cultures” started in Saratov on Sunday. Its route traditionally lies along the cities of Volga zone: Saratov-Samara-Kozmodemiansk-Vasilsursk – Cheboksary-Kazan-Saratov. Participants of the expedition mainly represent Mordvinian diaspora and diasporas of other Finno-Ugric nations from Karelia, Khanty-Mansiysky autonomous district, Mari-Al, Tatarstan, Bashkortostan, Penza, Saratov, Vladimir, Samara, Nizhniy Novgorod and Orenburg regions. The festival is held on the board of the motor ship and the program of the dialogue includes various conferences, festivals, contests, round tables, devoted to the problems of Volga nations' joining the staff of Russia and to some aspects of the forthcoming population census-2010.
Presentation of a new ethnic-educational project “The electronic library “National education from infancy to school” will take place during the dialogue along with the exhibition of Finno-Ugric photo-journalists “Russia is our Home”, the exposition of the honorable painter A. Aleshkin “My ancient Mordvinian nation”, presentation of the fundamental edition of the Mordvinian epos “MASTORAVA” and a new CD “ERAMON PAR” (The well of life) of the art-folk group "MORDENS".
