The XVI international ballet art festival by Rudolph Nureev will be opened on June 1 in Ufa with the first night of the ballet “La Marionette” by Igor Stravinsky, the director of the Bashkir State Theater of opera and ballet Vladimir Richter reported to journalists today.
“The festival will last for nine days” – he said – “Originally we didn’t believe the 16th ballet show would be shaped as so wide-scaled project but the Russian Ministry of culture suddenly allocated rather pretty sum of money for us and we spent these means for further advancement of our festival both in Russia and abroad”.
According to the director about 15 Russian and foreign dancers are invited: soloists of the Bolshoi Theater and dancers from Spain, Azerbaijan and Germany.
Besides, within the frames of the Nureev festival the Russian state concert company “Commonwealth” and the International Union of Choreographers will introduce the gala-show of Russian ballet stars, devoted to the 100th anniversary of Galina Ulanova and for the first time the Italian ballet troupe “Ariston Proballet Sanremo” will dance at the festival.
In all the festival includes five ballet performances: “La Marionette”, “Bayderka”, Sleeping Beauty”, The Swan Lake” and “Ecce Homo”, two gala-concerts and the evening of one-act ballets. It will be closed on June 9.
It should be added that on May 12 the XXII international classic ballet festival by Rudolph Nuriev (one of the variants of spelling of the family name of the great Russian dancer) will start on the stage of the Tatar Academic State Theater of opera and ballet by M. Jalil. It will start with the stage fantasy “Spartacus” by Aram Hachaturyan. This festival will include ten performances and two traditional gala-shows, which are to take place on May 24 and 25.
