Problems of cattle-breeding were discussed in Moscow
The meeting of the expert’s council for development of agricultural complex in Volga federal district has taken place in Moscow at the Representative Office RB under the President of Russia today. The meeting was headed by the deputy Plenipotentiary of the President of Russia in Volga federal district, the chairman of the expert’s council Alexei Kubrin. The first deputy Minister of agriculture RB Nikolai Kovalenko and the Plenipotentiary RB under the President of Russia Salavat Gumerov represented Republic of Bashkortostan at the meeting.
Having listened to the reports of the deputy Plenipotentiary of the President RF in Volga federal district Alexei Kubrin, the head of the cattle-breeding dept under the Ministry of agriculture RF Elena Koldaeva, General Director of the Russian Union of Cattle-Breeders Tengiz Japaridze, chairman of the National Union of Milk Producers Andre Danilenko, chairman of the Russian Meat Union Musheg Mamikonyan and members of the expert’s council the participants of the meting have marked the cattle-breeding is an important branch of agriculture in Volga federal district and its share makes up more than a half of the whole gross output in the district.
For the last decades the branch is found in a long-term crisis, resulted in the reduction of the cattle stock and, as a consequence, of the output volumes.
At the same time the active support of the state and reanimation of the national and regional projects for support of Russian agriculture contributed to revival of Russian cattle-breeding.
Thus, the farmings of all categories in Volga federal district have produced 10,8 million tons of milk in 2009 (101,9% to the level of 2008), cattle and poultry for fattening – 2,5 million tons (104%). As a result of the branch’s development and efficient custom-tariff regulations the import of meat has reduced by one fourth, making up 28%. The provision with milk of local origin makes up 83% under the threshold valuation, anticipated by the Food Security Doctrine, 90%.
At the same time certain reduction of cattle livestock is observed in the district (by 1,4% in 2009).
As a result of the discussion the participants of the meeting have admitted the necessity of close cooperation between all branches of power in order to solve this problem and approved the meeting’s protocol with their proposals, which is decided to send to the Ministry of agriculture RF.
