The law “The all-Russian population census” should be altered – this is the decision of the Governmental commission, responsible for holding the all-Russian population census-2010.
As the Russian State Statistics Committee reports, in case the amendments are approved, the copyists may write down the answers concerning national identity of the citizens, learning from the person questioned. At present time the law says the citizens have to write down the answers themselves and it may cause certain difficulties, if this person either doesn’t know Russian language enough or can’t write at all. The copyists have already faced this problem, holding the census in Yamal-Nenets autonomous district.
The work moments of the preparation for this important event in life of the country were discussed at the meeting.
“The population census-2010 will for the first time introduce the data on the demographic situation in the country, taking the local self-government reform into account and it allows optimizing the inter-budget relations” – the chairman of the Governmental commission, the head of the Russian Government’s Machinery Sergey Sobyanin said.
The head of the Russian State Statistics Committee Alexander Surinov told how the census was running in the hard-to-access areas of Yamal-Nenets autonomous district. It has taken place there at the beginning of April.
