Social-economic development of Ufa allowed the capital of Bashkortostan to be included into the list of leaders among big Russian cities by many indices, the head of Ufa administration state statistics department Valentine Sotnichenko reported today.
“The negative phenomena of the global crisis couldn’t but affect the social-economic development of the city” – he said – “but we may definitely say this influence was minimal and in 2009 Ufa managed to occupy high positions among big Russian cities with the population one million and more than one million people”.
Thus, the index of industrial production in 2009 (97,6%) allowed the capital of Bashkortostan to hold the second place in the country after Kazan (100,8%). Ufa left Yekaterinburg (93% — the third place), Novosibirsk (91,5% — the fourth place) and other Russian cities with millionth population behind.
Ufa held the second place in the country after Yekaterinburg by the retail trade and public catering turnover (279 billion rubles in 2009). The capital RB also holds the second place in the country by the volume of output, shipped off in 2009.
The picture in sphere of house-building in 2009 was less impressive. 564,5 thousand square meters of dwelling have been put into exploitation in Ufa. With this index Ufa holds just the fifth place in the country and Rostov-on-Don holds the first position (more than 800 thousand square meters).
The rise of the underemployed workers at Ufa enterprises has become the direct consequence of the economic crisis. As compared with 2008 this figure has grown up more than four times and this problem is especially noticeable in the sphere of processing productions.
As for the average wage of Ufa citizens, it has nominally grown up by 5%, making 19,8 thousand rubles. But in the comparable prices and taking the inflation into account the real incomes of population noticeably dropped. The highest rates of wage growth were observed in budget sphere. Thus, in 2009 the salaries of the employees in sphere of education have grown up by 20,2% and in health sphere – by 16,2%.
The inflation in 2009 was lower than in 2008. Thus, the growth of prices on all goods and services in 2008 made 12,4% in Ufa and in 2009 – only 8,3%.
The demographic situation in the city during 2009 was steadily improving. The natality made about six thousand people. The Ufa population was filled by other four thousand people thanks to migrants. Thereby about one million 38 thousand people live in Ufa constantly now.
“Therefore today Ufa holds stable positions on all directions of social-economic development” – Valentine Sotnichenko concluded.
