The future ways of Ufa eparchy’s development were determined at the eparchial meeting in Ufa. The Archbishop of Ufa and Sterlitamac Nikon has acquainted the comers with the content of the new Russian Orthodox Church’s regulations and determined the eparchy’s aims for 2010.
According to Nikon the spiritual life of the eparchy has to be enriched with the new forms, meeting the demands of up-to-dateness.
“We’ve finished the epoch of solemn church construction and parade arrangements” – he said – “Now we have to start erecting rather simple and non-expensive churches with all necessary facilities for full-fledged parochial activity and everyday work with the parish”.
The Archbishop turned the attention of the clergy to the necessity to start active social work with the parishioners, since many of them need moral and material support. He informed the comers about the decision of the Moscow bishop’s council. According to this decision the staffs of the Christian districts have to include the offices of social employee, pedagogue and youth leader with the corresponding salaries. “These directions of our activity have to be entrusted with the professionals and not with the amateur activists” – he said.
One of the main aims of Russian eparchies is development of clerical education at all levels and opening of Sunday schools at the parishes and organization of theological courses for the church employees, having no special education, has to become the first step in this direction. Since Republic of Bashkortostan has to become one of Russian regions, where the experiment on introduction of “The basics of Christian culture” at schools starts since 2011, the Ufa eparchy’s religious education and catechism department will begin the selection of the methodical literature for the pedagogues and parish libraries in the nearest future.
