Murtaza Rakhimov received the Governor of Sverdlovsk region

On February 8 President RB Murtaza Rakhimov held a work meeting with the Governor of Sverdlovsk region Alexander Misharin, who arrived in Ufa to partake in the meeting of the regional development Governmental commission, in the Republic House.

First, President RB congratulated Alexander Misharin with the appointment to the post of the Governor of Sverdlovsk region and wished him every success on this high office.

In the course of the meeting Murtaza Rakhimov and Alexander Misharin confirmed the importance of further widening of interregional cooperation in social-economic, scientific-technical and cultural spheres.

“Bashkortostan and Sverdlovsk region are the neighbors not just by our geographical positions but by the common history of Ural and we have to develop our good-neighbor relations further” – Murtaza Rakhimov underscored.

Alexander Misharin supported the proposal of President RB and said our Republic was and remained one of the key trade partners for Sverdlovsk region.

“Our regions depend on each other on many aspects. Some our enterprises, for example, receive the raw materials fr om Bashkortostan and I believe the current level of our economic relations is still far from the lim it” – Alexander Misharin said.

One more topic of the meeting was the necessity to start the project on reconstruction of the highway, connecting Bashkortostan and Sverdlovsk region.

Economic cooperation between Republic of Bashkortostan and Sverdlovsk region is one of the most important directions in the relations between our regions. In 2008 the trade circulation with Sverdlovsk region has exceeded 19 billion rubles, including export from Bashkortostan – more than 15 billion rubles and import – 4 billion. Republic exports mainly industrial goods to Sverdlovsk region and the region supplies Bashkortostan with ferrous rolled metal, steel pipes, timber, tires, excavators, cosmetics and perfumery, confectionaries and macaroni.

Our cultural ties are also very close. More than 37 thousand Bashkirs live on the territory of Sverdlovsk region, five national-cultural centers work there, including the executive committee of Sverdlovsk Bashkir Kurultay.
