The Republican Trade-Union of light and textile industry workers celebrates its 55th anniversary today. As the news-service of the Trade-Union Federation RB reports, the trade-union organizations at the light and textile industrial enterprises existed long before 1955 but they worked separately. But time demanded unity and coordination in their activity, so on November 30, 1954, in accordance with the decision of the Trade-Union of commodity goods industry workers the organizational bureau of the trade-union in Bashkir Autonomous Republic was established. In 1958 the trade-union has changed its name. Since then it is known as the Trade-Union of light and textile industry workers. By 1960 the staff of the trade-union included 30 enterprises with the number of workers more than 13 thousand. By 1965 the number of the trade-union members made 24 thousand people.
At present time the trade-union is considered an inseparable part of the Russian Trade-Union of textile and light industry workers. The primary organizations work at 27 Republican textile and light industrial enterprises and at the profiled educational institutions.
