The day of memory of Achmet-Zaki Validi has taken place in Istanbul
The international organization TURKSOY and the Institute of Eurasia under the Istanbul University have held the day of memory of Professor, Doctor Achmet-Zaki Validi Togan. The director of the Institute of Eurasia Khayati Tufekchioglu said, welcoming the participants of the action, that the celebrity was devoted to prominent Turk specialist Achmet-Zaki Validi, having made high contribution to development of Turk history.
Participants of the gathering watched the documentary film in Bashkir language “I’d write the history on stones” (producer Achmet Yakupov, scriptwriter Ulay Gaunetdinov).
The General TURKSOY Secretary Dusen Kaseinov also took the floor at the meeting. He said: “TURKSOY always paid high attention to activity of the prominent activists of science and culture, including Validi too, having made great contribution to the history of Turk nations’ development. In 2003 TURKSOY has published the book of Validi Togan “The history of Bashkirs” By the proposal of Ministry of culture and national politics RB and in connection with the 120th anniversary of Achmet-Zaki Validi we intend to declare 2010 the Year of Achmet-Zaki Validi within the frames of TURKSOY”.
Numerous Turk scientists, representatives of Bashkortostan and Tatarstan, public organizations and students have taken part in the memory day of the great Turk scientist.
