The conference, devoted to the 120th anniversary of well-known Turk scientist Abdulkadyr Inan will be opened in the village KUNASHAK, Chelyabinsk region today. The conference is organized by KUNASHAKSKY district administration, the Chelyabinsk city public feminine movement “FATIKHA” and by Bashkir kurultays of KUNASHAKSKY and SOSNOVSKY districts.
Specialists in Turkology, teachers, librarians and students are taking part in the conference. Bashkortostan is introduced by the scientists of the Bashkir State University – historian Radik Bagautdinov and philologist Gainislam Ibragimov. The conference will be continued in Chelyabinsk tomorrow, December 12.
Abdulkadyr Inan was born on December 12, 1889, in the village SHIGAY (the territory of Chelyabinsk region). He is the specialist in Turkology, writer and activist of Bashkir national movement. He had finished the madrasah “RASULIA”. In 1918 he was an editor in the newspaper “BASHKORT” and since April 1920 he was a member of the state publishing house of the Bashkir Autonomous Soviet Republic. As a sign of protest against the central decree “The state system of the Autonomous Soviet Bashkir Republic”, issued in May 19, 1920, he had sent in his resignation and left first for the Middle Asia and later abroad. He lived in Turkey since 1925, working at the Institute of Turkology. In 1933-1944 he was working in the Turkish Linguistic Society, in 1955-61 at the University of Ankara and in 1964-71 – at the Institute of Turkish culture.
His historical drama “SALAVAT-BATYR” is included in the repertoire of the Bashkir Dramatic Theater. His scientific investigations were devoted to history, ethnology and linguistics of Turk nation, problems of pre-Islamic religions and spreading of Islam in Ural-Volga zone and in Siberia. He is the author of about 300 scientific works.
