Solemn opening of the II international scientific-practical conference “Ideals and values of Islam in education” has taken place today at the Bashkir State Philharmonic Society. Scientists and representatives of Muslim clergy fr om Russian regions, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Turkey, Germany, India and Azerbaijan arrived in Ufa to take part in the conference.
The conference is initiated by the religious council under Government RB, the Bashkir State Pedagogical University by Miftahetdin Akmullah and the Russian Islamic University under the Central Clerical Muslim Dept of Russia.
“The place for the conference is chosen not accidentally” – the chairman of the religious council under Government RB Vyacheslaw Pyatkov said in the complimentary address – “The capital of Bashkortostan Ufa is officially considered the Muslim capital of Russian Empire since the 18th century and remains this capital in modern Russia. The actuality of the conference’s subject-matter is also evident. It is high time to understand that Russian Federation is not just a periphery of the Islamic world but its inseparable part, wh ere millions of Muslims live today, so we have to pay the most serious attention to the aspects of Muslim spiritual education”.
Penetration of Islam to the territory of modern Bashkortostan has deep and centuries-old roots and it started on the verge of the first and the second millenniums. At that the nations, inhabiting the region, go on preserving tolerant international and inter-religious attitude to each other.
“The leadership of the country as well as of our Republic grasp the importance of the religious education system development today” – the rector of the Bashkir State Pedagogical University Rail Asadullin said – “Because it directly influences upon education of younger generation and, correspondingly, to formation of Russian population’s spirituality”.
“The theme of Islamic education is very important in the modern and rapidly changing world” – the chairman of the Clerical Muslim Dept RB, Mufti Nurmukhamet Nigmatullin says – “We are happy to see that new possibilities for development of Islamic education appear in the country and both Bashkortostan and Russia work up new programs of Islamic education, we have actively working Russian Islamic University here and our clerical department in its turn actively cooperates with the Bashkir State Pedagogical University in this direction”.
Bashkortostan does much for restoration of Muslim education and support of spiritual heritage of other religions today. Thus, there are about 900 active mosques, 200 churches and more than 20 cult constructions of other religions, seven religious centers and more than 1360 different religious communities in our Republic. It means that any citizen RB may preach any religion absolutely freely.
The conference’s work will last during three days and work of different sections and the “round tables” “The basics of spiritual culture at schools” and “Mass-media and the system of modern Islamic education” are included in its agenda.
