Citizens of Russia and Byelorussia are going to celebrate the jubilee date – the 10th anniversary of the union state Russia and Belarus.
The treaty about establishment of the union state was signed by presidents Boris Eltsin and Alexander Lukashenko on December 8, 1999. The treaty allowed uniting the efforts of our states on provision of peaceful and democratic development, consolidation of friendship and the rise of people’s well-being.
The main goals of the union state were: opening of the common economic space between our two countries and uniting of their material and cultural potentials; provision of the union state’s security and struggle with criminality; formation of agreed policy in sphere of defense; formation of the united legal system of the democratic state; conducting of well-balanced social policy, aimed at creation of the conditions for worthy life and free development of citizens.
Establishment of the union state favorably affected the relations between Belarus and Bashkortostan. Our two republics are tied with the long-term cooperation in sphere of economics, culture and sport. More than 17,5 thousand Byelorussians live in Bashkortostan for today. The first Byelorussian settlements appeared on our territory at the end of the XIX century and mainly the natives from the eastern and the central regions of Belarus settled here. The abolition of serfage in 1861 and the First World War contributed to their resettlement. The Byelorussians, having migrated to Ufa province, were occupied with agriculture, cattle-breeding, bee-keeping, hunting and fishing. At that the majority of the Byelorussian migrants have settled on the territory of IGLINSKY and in the northern part of ARCHANGELSKY region RB. Now these regions are considered the places of Byelorussians’ compact habitation.
The Byelorussian historical-center works in the village BALTIKA and here the majority of all Byelorussian folk festivals are held. The office of the Byelorussian Embassy in Ufa and the Republican national-cultural Byelorussian center “SPADCHYNA” render certain assistance to the Byelorussians, living in our Republic. The Byelorussian top public officials visited Bashkortostan many times, including the President of Byelorussia Alexander Lukashenko. In June 2009 Byelorussian delegation, headed by Minister of architecture and building Alexander Seleznev, visited our Republic. In the course of his meeting with President RB Murtaza Rakhimov the questions of bilateral cooperation in economics and culture were under discussion. Alexander Seleznev told about the interest of Byelorussian party in establishment of joint ventures with Bashkortostan for production of tractors, loaders and building materials for low building.
The theme of interaction in sphere of house building and establishment of the joint venture for production of agricultural machinery in Bashkortostan was continued in August, when the delegation of our Republic with Minister of building, architecture and transport RB Ravil Ibatullin at the head visited Belarus by invitation of Alexander Seleznev.
The theme of interaction between Bashkortostan and Byelorussia in different spheres will be discussed in details on Friday at the news-conference with participation of the chairman of the Republican national-cultural Byelorussian center Igor Lesovitch. The beginning of the conference in the news-agency “Bashinform” is at 15 o’clock.
