Musical art and culture of Bashkortostan has suffered a great loss — Gali Khamzin, the people's artist RB, Salavat Yulaev State Prize Winner, has passed away on November 15 in his sixtieth year of life.
He was born in Akhmerovo village of Beloretsk region on June 12 in 1950.
After his graduation from Ufa State Institute of Arts, he started his working career in the Bashkir State Philharmonic Hall. The artist won wide recognition in the republic and outside it in a short period of time.
Gali Khamzin was famous for his rich beautiful voice and excellent vocality. It was most pronounced at his masterly rendering of Bashkir folk long-drawn-out songs — "ozon kyoi". In 1985, he became the first prizewinner of the All-Russian Folk Singers Contest. His repertoire was very rich: there were a lot of songs of Bashkir composers alongside with Bashkir folk songs in it.
Gali Khamzin turned out to be a talented organizer as well. He was one of the originators of the Yadkar folk band and was at the head of it for 25 years.
He represented musical art of Bashkortostan abroad — in Denmark, Spain, Sweden, Australia, Canada, the USA and other countries. His creative achievements made a significant contribution to the growth of world popularity of Bashkir musical art.
We will always keep our cherished memory of Gali Khamzin — a wonderful person and a talented musician — in our hearts.
Murtaza Rakhimov, the President RB, Constantine Tolkachev, the Chairman of the State Assembly, Rail Sarbaev, the Head of the Government RB and other official persons signed the obituary.
