Masking won’t help gambling industry

author: Eugene Rakhimkulov

Hitherto gambling industry hasn’t left the territory of Ufa and Ufa Mayor Paul Kachkaev called the law-enforcement bodies of Ufa to continue the struggle with the infringers of the federal legislation at today’s operative meeting in Ufa administration.

“The present situation unfortunately is that some of the gambling establishments go on functioning, putting on the masks of lottery clubs” – the Mayor said – “But it won’t help them. The name doesn’t change the essence and all attempts to revive gambling industry in Ufa have to be stopped”.

For the last week the number of underground gambling clubs in Ufa has grown up by 11 and now there are about 30 such clubs in Ufa. The city authorities have to bring every case to a court but before the courts try to prove the illegality of this or that club and close it, the similar club appears in another district of the city, though the federal law “The regulation of gambling industry”, which has come into effect since July 1, 2009, prohibits gambling industry on the whole territory of Russia, except four specially allocated zones – in Altai region, in the Maritime territory, in Kaliningrad region and on the borderline between Krasnodar and Rostov regions.
