Social prosperity anticipated growth of birth rate in Bashkortostan

author: Michael Sysoev

In the beginning of 90s Russia entered the period of negative birth rate dynamics. Population grew up very slowly. But now, even in spite of the crisis some regions managed to achieve the main index of stability – growth of birth rate and lowering of death rate. Bashkortostan stands on the first place in Volga federal district by natural growth of population.

Thus, 36332 people were born in the Republic in January-August 2009 and it is by 13% more than for the same period of time in 2008. The natural growth of population for the last eight months made up 642 people.

The deputy Prime-Minister of Government RB, Minister of labor and population social protection RB Fidus Yamaltdinov says this statistical data is the clear evidence that citizens of Bashkortostan are sure of their future and don’t afraid to give birth to children.

“People start thinking about the second or even the third kid and our social policy is aimed at that. There are plenty of social programs in Bashkortostan and Bashkir families receive all-sided state backing. First, it can be explained by general social and economic stability, second, we’ve managed to stabilize the situation in the labor market and third, we are doing much to solve the main problem – the problem with housing. We observe wide-scaled construction of low building in the Republic now and this inspires people too. Our policy is oriented to making the housing prices more available. No other Russian region has a housing program, where one square meter costs just 14 thousand rubles and at that the land areas are distributed free, all services are laid at the expense of the Republican budget and loans are given under 8% of interest per annum” – Fidus Yamaltdinov said.
