Russian Central Election Committee designs a site for youngsters

Within the frames of the actual election campaign the Russian Central Election Committee designs its own site for young people, the leadership of the Committee reported the day before during the “round table”, held in a video-conference mode. The leadership of the Russian Central Election Committee, State Duma deputies and representatives of youth parliaments from several Russian regions, including Republic of Bashkortostan, participated in the “round table” to the topic “Development of youth parliamentarism institute as a factor of the rise of youth political activity”.

Internet-users will find the blocks with electoral normative and lawful documentation, answers to the most frequently asked questions and references to the most popular youth sites on the new site, as “ITAR-TASS” reported.

According to the latest information Russian citizens at the age from 14 to 30 make 28%, the deputy chairman of Russian Central Election Committee Leonid Ivlev reported. At the same time representation of young people in legislative bodies is still far from wide but at present time the tendency of increase of the number of young deputies becomes more noticeable. Thus, 2% of young deputies were present in the Russian State Duma of the last convocation. 2,5% of young parliamentarians, aged under 30, were elected to the State Duma of the fifth convocation. The number of young people in legislative bodies will be more especially after the norm, which permits young people to be candidates to the local self-government bodies at the age of 18, was approved upon the initiative of President of Russia. Working with youngsters is the strategic direction in activity of election commissions of all levels and the matter is not just the rise of electoral activity of this category of population but its work in election commissions and its right to be put to the vote.
