Bashkortostan holds the first place in Volga federal district by the number of breeding centers and breeding farms and the seventh in Russia in a whole. 19 breeding centers and 57 breeding farms are busy with stock farming in the Republic with the total livestock more than 30 thousand heads. The average annual milk yield makes up 5208 kilograms of milk per one cow.

News-service of Ministry of agriculture RB reports more than 50 pedigree heifers have been acquired in the Republic for the last five years. Therefore nearly one fourth of the whole dam livestock has high genetic potential.
