Spartak Akhmetov: our task as citizens of Russia is to support the head of the state

The program article of Russian President Dmitry Medvedev “Russia, Forward!” aroused wide response all over the country and politicians, deputies and experts comment it in public.

“I think the fact that the article of Dmitry Medeved appeared on the eve of the regular Presidential Message can be regarded as very substantial and positive sign” – the deputy chairman of Bashkir State Council committee on regulations and work organization Spartak Akhmetov says – “This address to wide public community, all citizens and our youth with the appeal to participation in joint creation can be per se regarded as a political and rather positive novelty because we used to the addresses of Russian President to the parliament, to members of the Government, businessmen etc but here we watch the address to the direct dialogue with Russian citizens with the proposal to discuss and work out the mechanisms for solution of several problems of paramount importance in social-economic and political development of the country.

President of Russia says about the necessity of serious reformation of the whole state and public foundation and begins with rather severe criticism of the current situation in the country. Dmitry Medvedev says that our economics is noncompetitive, that labor productivity in industrial production is extremely low and the whole system of management in Russia is built up so that it ignores the main needs of Russian population. All that is true and the diagnosis is very precise – the backwardness – both technological, social and raw material backwardness. The main thing I’ve paid attention to is that Dmitry Medvedev puts the question concerning the direct connection between democracy and economics. As far as I remember, the connection between certain achievements in economics and high-tech development of Russia and the forms of the political liberty is for the first time in our history established so unambiguously and strictly, i.e. any talks about democracy are out of the question without a modernization breakthrough to the level of high-tech economics.

I think that this is well-thought and despite its criticism very optimistic program and it has to be regarded as the beginning of a wide discussion on all our problems and the ways of their overcoming. President of Russia is ready to establish a coalition of all healthy powers of our society in the name of progress and in the name of alteration of the situation, observed in our economics and politics now. He is ready to lead this coalition and to make corresponding changes in functioning of our state as well as our economics and our main task as citizens of Russia is to support the leader of the country”.
