The regional oncological dispensary in Chelyabinsk is given the status of the regional medical center of Russia. In accordance with the status the center receives federal funding for purchases of modern diagnostic equipment and mastering of new methods in struggle with malignant growths.
At present time the centers of positron-emission tomography are erected in Chelyabinsk and Magnitogorsk. The centers are erected fully at the expense of regional means: the regional budget allocated almost 1,2 billion rubles for their erection. At present moment there are only five similar centers in Russia and all of them are located in Moscow and Saint-Petersburg. The method of positron-emission tomography is considered one of the most reliable and progressive methods for early diagnostics of oncological, cardiological and neurological illnesses. With the help of shortly-lived isotopes, minimally unfavorable for human organism, medics have a chance to discover new malignant growths at the early stage, thus raising the efficiency of medical treatment.

All of them have passed training in the best research centers of the country in sphere of radiology and radiotherapy.
Murtaza Rakhimov was interested in the newest medical equipment and its capacities. Well-developed industry makes ecological situation in Chelyabinsk region more complicated and the level of oncological sickness rate in the region remains rather high. In the course of the visit the question about possibility of medical investigation for patients from Bashkortostan in this center was mentioned. This problem will be definitely solved.
