Memorial tablet, devoted to prominent Bashkir scientist-linguist, Doctor of philology, honorable scientist RB Zinnur Uraksin is installed on the house he lived in. Pupils, colleagues and relatives have taken part in the ceremony, organized by the Institute of history, language and literature.
Zinnur Uraksin was born on November 5, 1935, in the village MAKSUTOVO, Orenburg region. After finishing the pedagogical college in MRAKOVO he worked as a teacher and journalist in a regional newspaper. Later he served in Soviet Army. In 1963 Uraksin has finished BSU philological faculty. Since then his course of life was inseparably linked with the Institute of history, language and literature under Russian Academy of sciences. Zinnur Mardanov was prominent authoritative scientist. He has made invaluable endowment to elaboration of problems of Bashkir and other Turk languages – vocabulary, phraseology, social linguistics, lingual typology, history and grammar of Bashkir language. Bashkir linguist has published more than 200 scientific works and his investigations are well-known not only in Russia but abroad too. Zinnur Uraksin was in the staff of editorial board of the journal “Soviet Study of Turk languages” and in the staff of the Committee of Turk Scientists RF. In 1998 he has become a member of the International Turk Academy. Besides, he was the editor-in-chief of the encyclopedia “Bashkortostan”. He actively participated in public life of Bashkortostan. He is the author of several novels, stories and essays. He was also a member of the Union of Writers RB.
