Attempts to save Meleuzovsky sugar factory in Bashkiria
The authorities of Bashkiria expect to save the Meleuzovsky sugar factory, TASS reports. According to the regional Ministry of Agriculture, they plan to find an investor for the enterprise.
Earlier, the Bashinform News Agency reported a temporary shutdown of the plant due to a two-fold reduction in prices for white sugar in the Russian market. Also, in the 2020-2021 season, due to low sugar prices, the Nurlat sugar factory in Tatarstan and Tovarkovsky in the Tula region will stop operating.
Now the leadership of the Ministry of Agriculture RB is dealing with the issue of preserving the plant. A meeting took place with the owner of the group of companies "Prodimeks", which includes the enterprise.
"The position of the Ministry of Agriculture is to prevent closure. There is a preliminary agreement that if possible, we will find an investor who will buy back or at least rent the plant," TASS quotes the agency's representative.
Meleuzovsky sugar factory was established in 1960. Its specialization is to produce sugar from sugar beets and raw cane sugar. The processing capacity is up to 3.3 thousand tons per day.
