Blagoveshchensk is recognized as a single-industry town with a favorable urban environment, the Ministry of Economic Development of Bashkortostan said, based on the “Urban Environment Quality Index” rating.
This index is annually compiled by the Russian Ministry of Construction to implement the provisions of the May decrees of Russian President Vladimir Putin. In total, last year, 53 monotowns were noted.
Bashkir Blagoveshchensk is rated among the best landscaping areas in the rating.
“One of the criteria for compiling the rating was the improvement in the single-industry towns of public urban spaces: parks, squares, streets, and embankments,” the Bashkiria Ministry of Economic Development added. “Earlier, in the framework of the “5 Steps to Improve Everyday Life” program, realized with the participation of the Monotown Development Fund, over 1,180 such projects were completed in cities. A number of them were taken into account in the rating”.
The Index of the Russian Ministry of Construction is formed considering six criteria of the quality of the urban environment, namely safety, comfort, environmental friendliness, and health, identity and diversity, modernity, and relevance of the environment, management efficiency.
