The Institute of History, Language and Literature of the Ufa Federal Research Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences began to prepare materials for the forthcoming World Folkloriada in Bashkortostan, which takes place every four years.
Famous Bashkir folklorist Fanuza Nadrshina and researcher Ella Sozinova prepared an album book in Bashkir, Russian and English — “The Treasures of the Ancient Urals”. The publication includes Bashkir folk legends, excerpts from epic works explaining the origin of mountains, rivers and lakes, songs glorifying their beauty and greatness. The presented samples of folklore show the inextricable connection between human beings and the natural world, the holiness of the native land.
The authors expect that the book will arouse the interest of a wide range of readers, including participants of the World Folkloriada.
The International Folklore Festival will be held in the republic from July 18 to August 1, 2020. More than 3 thousand delegates from 100 countries will take part in World Folkloriada; they will present their traditional music, dances, folk crafts, cuisine, costumes, and stage art. Already 85 states have confirmed their participation. About 2.5 million tourists are expected to visit Bashkortostan during the festival. The Head of Bashkortostan Radiy Khabirov announced this during a meeting of the federal organizing committee for the preparation and conduct of the 6th World Folkloriada.
