Bashkortostan recognized as best region in Russia for sport's development

Bashkortostan is recognized as the best region in Russia for the sport's development and was awarded the National Sports Prize. In Moscow, the Head of the republic Radiy Khabirov received a high award at the solemn ceremony of honoring the laureates.
The Krasnodar and Krasnoyarsk Territories were also in the top three finalists, but Bashkiria won a landslide victory both by the results of the popular vote and by the results of the expert council of the award, the press service of the Head of the Republic reported.
The jury members specifically noted Ufa as the first and only Russian city to successfully host the International Children's Games twice. Also, a lot of work is being done in the republic on the development of physical culture and mass sport, annual sports and athletics competitions and other competitions for various categories of the population are held. The winning region will receive a monetary incentive — one million rubles from the Russian Ministry of Sports.
The final competition of this year as the best sports facility in Russia also included the “Almaz” sports school in the city of Salavat.
The regional Ministry of Sports summed up “sports” results:
— 1,600,988 residents (42.6%) of the republic go in for sports regularly;
— 126 institutions of physical education and sports focus on 72 kinds of sports work in Bashkortostan;
— 107 sports are actively developing;
— 89 accredited sports federations;
— 28 basic Olympic and four Paralympic sports are developing;
— 25 140 people are engaged in basic sports in Bashkortostan, 281 athletes are included in the sports teams of the Russian Federation;
— 11 899 sports facilities are functioning, and this indicator is only growing;
— the republic became a pilot region of the “Wrestling — In Schools” project, to which 16 schools of the republic joined;
— 29 official competitions of the inter-regional, all-Russian and international levels were held in Bashkortostan, in which 7 679 people took part;
— More than 7,800 athletes of the republic took part in 1,068 interregional, national and international competitions, where they won 1,068 medals;
— 2,578 coaches of the republic trained 1,706 athletes of the highest sports skill;
— 505 athletes with disabilities took part in international and all-Russian competitions where they won 233 medals;
— the capital of Bashkortostan became the epicenter of sports events and hosted: the Russian League of Nations Men's Volleyball Tour, 53 Summer International Children’s Games, 6th Spartakiad of Russian Pensioners, 5th All-Russian festival of national and non-Olympic sports, 2nd Open Eurasian Martial Arts Games;
— the team of sports veterans became the first at the 6th Spartakiad of Russian Pensioners;
— Schoolchildren from Bashkortostan became the third in the Presidential competitions and the Presidential sports games.
The National Sports Award was established by the Government of the Russian Federation in 2010. It is awarded for high results in sports of the highest achievements and adaptive sports, a great contribution to the development of physical culture and sports, the promotion of a healthy lifestyle.
The award includes 11 nominations. According to the results of the work of the expert council and popular voting, 54 nominees were announced at the award ceremony. 18 of them became winners. In addition to the title of laureate, they received cash incentives in the amount of 1 million rubles.
