The head of the International Hockey Federation IIHF Rene Fasel said that the transfer of the Women's Hockey World Cup-2021 in Ufa is impossible. As well as the World Cup among men's teams in 2023 (St. Petersburg) and the Youth World Cup (Novosibirsk).
“It is impossible to transfer the world hockey championship from Russia, we will adhere to our decision taken earlier. This applies to the youth world championship, and the women's. Our desire is to hold these tournaments in Russia”, RIA Novosti quoted Fasel as saying.
On December 9, the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) issued a decision to exclude Russia from participating in international competitions for four years, including the Olympic and Paralympic Games. The same decision prohibits our country from holding any international tournaments, championships, and cups.
Russian President Vladimir Putin noted that the decision of the World Anti-Doping Agency was contradicting to the Olympic Charter.
In addition to the Women's World Hockey Championship in 2021, Ufa should host one of the stages of the Men's Volleyball World Championship in 2022 and the Youth Wrestling World Championship in 2021.
