Global producers opened new field for activity at Musafir Forum in Ufa

The Musafir International Ethnic Music Forum finished its work in Ufa. The day before, the final roundtable was held at the Toratau Congress Hall, at which all speakers expressed their impressions, wishes, and made comments. Many of them visited Bashkortostan for the first time. The Minister of Culture Amina Shafikova moderated the round table. On behalf of the leadership of the republic, she thanked the participants of the forum and spoke about the events that were taking place in Bashkiria.
During the conversation, the forum guests expressed many exciting ideas that the organizers plan to take into account in the future. Alexey Nikolaev, the founder and leading expert of the InSimple consulting bureau, spoke about the need to attract famous labels and record companies to the forum.
Andrew Cronshaw, the UK music journalist for Roots, Rough Guides, said he would love to join folk expeditions to the rural areas of the republic to listen to the authentic performance of traditional music.
“It is an honor to be here. I want to mark the excellent selection of artists for the showcase program, the perfect winners of the Russian World Music Awards. Everyone was very different, and it was a great surprise to see such diverse artists in one place, ”said Miriam Leah Brenner (Netherlands), manager, agent, co-founder of Global Club Music Network.
Performers of ethnic music were able to communicate with world music producers and organizers of festivals in different countries and regions, receive invitations to events, and sign contracts. The curator of the Wind Music International festival, Su-Ying Yu invited the Argymak group to the festival in Taiwan.
Natalia Myazina, director of the Russian World Music Awards, said that in the future it would be necessary to extend the showcase base. It will strengthen the general professional level, many musicians should improve and grow.
The Musafir International Ethnic Music Forum was held in the capital of the republic on the eve of the World Folkloriada, which will be held in 2020. The event is planned to be made traditional, but in the future, its format will be more simple, practical, with more workshops, and showcases will be held in parallel, the project manager Aliya Yakhina informed.
