Plant breeders of the Bashkir Scientific Research Institute of Agriculture submitted a new winter wheat variety “Bashkir 12” for state testing. As explained by the institute, it was obtained by the method of gradual hybridization with the participation of the varieties "Bashkir Jubilee", "Mironovskaya 808", "Malachite", "Lutescens 65737". The new variety is characterized by high winter hardiness, productivity and good technological qualities of grain. The average yield over the years of station testing was 42.4 kg/ha, which is 3.8 kg/ha higher than the standard “Bashkirskaya 10” variety.
“A higher yield of the new variety is formed due to the larger number of grains in the spike than the standard, and a slightly larger mass of 1000 grains and grain nature. It is important that the content of raw gluten and protein in the grain is higher than that of the standard. The variety is also characterized by high resistance to drowning”, explained the main author of the variety Nina Leshchenko.
State trials are the final stage, after which the most successful varieties and hybrids are officially recognized as the best. After that, they will be offered to farmers working in regions suitable for their cultivation.
