On July 6, the largest in Russia Bashkir-Tatar Sabantuy was held in Kolomenskoye Park in Moscow. The highlight of the cultural program of the event was a unique tandem, which featured the leader of the French group Deep Forest Eric Mouquet and Bashkir musicians – kurai player Robert Yuldshev and singer Zilya Bakhtieva. On the eve of their performance, the musicians were the guests of the “Good Morning” program on Channel One.
For the first time in Russia, the team presented to guests of the Sabantuy a composition called Brassy Sunrise, written in Bashkir folklore tunes. In 2018, due to this, Bashkir music first hit the Western music charts and gained popularity there.
The project emerged more than two years ago when Eric Mouquet visited Bashkortostan at the International Festival of Arts “The Heart of Eurasia” and got acquainted with the national culture of the republic. The Brassy Sunrise was the first result of their creative communication.
The Deep Forest group is the founder of the world music genre, created in 1992 in France. The peculiarity of music is the combination of ethnic tunes with electronic compositions and arrangements. The group participated in the UNESCO projects, is the owner of the most prestigious music award — Grammy.
