The center of the Tatar culture "Miras" will hold a traditional Sabantuy in Canadian Montreal. The plow festival will take place in the Montrégnon park in Montreal on June 22.
"The Tatar and Bashkir communities of Toronto and Ottawa will join the citywide holiday, which will be held this year with the support of the Heritage of Quebec Society, the City Hall of Montreal, the Russian Consulate General, and other organizations," the "Miras" center told the Bashinform News Agency.
Representatives of the communities will demonstrate the traditions and customs of the Tatar and Bashkir peoples, as well as perform songs and dances at the Sabantuy.
It is worth noting that the center of the Tatar culture "Miras" actively promotes the national culture in the new homeland. For example, in May, Miras joined the Ottawa Turkish community holiday dedicated to the start of the Muslim fast. The center’s activists prepared a concert program from Bashkir and Tatar songs and dances, which genuinely pleased not only the new Turkish friends and native members of the Ottawa Bashkir community but also representatives of the Ottawa City Hall and the Mayor himself Jim Watson. The mayor of Ottawa with great interest asked them about the activities of their center and was grateful for the gift — a large box of chak-chak (national Bashkir dessert.
Besides, the “Miras” center joined the writing of the world dictation in the Bashkir language, took part in the celebration of Children's Day and the festival under the auspices of UNESCO.
