“Nureyev. White Crow" film is released in Russia

On April 20, the BBC Film “Nureyev. White Crow" is released in Russia. The protagonist of the biographical drama is an outstanding ballet dancer Rudolf Nureyev, whose childhood years were spent in Ufa and the first theatrical impressions were connected with the Bashkir Opera and Ballet Theater.
The director of the film is a British actor and director Ralph Fiennes. He also played the role of a Petersburg dance teacher, Alexander Pushkin. During the shooting of the film, Ralph Fiennes repeatedly came to Ufa, visited the theater, the Bashkir Choreographic College named after the dancer.
The film is based on a biographical book by Julie Kavanagh. The central event is a tour to Paris of the Kirov Theater troupe in 1961, after which the artist asked for political asylum in the West. At the same time, the action is constantly returning to earlier times: the birth of the future artist in the carriage of the Siberian railway, difficult working days in Ufa, and studies in Leningrad.
In the Ufa period of life, it is shown how little Rudi looks at trains from the steep Belaya River bank, together with his mother Farida (Ravshana Kurkova) and the sisters, goes to the theater, takes ballet classes with Anna Udaltsova (Ksenia Ryabinkina).
The lead role was played by the soloist of the Kazan Opera and Ballet Theater Oleg Ivenko. The film also starred Chulpan Khamatova, Adel Ekzarkopulos, Sergei Polunin, Raphael Personna, Alexei Morozov, Andrei Urgant, ballet dancer Anastasia Meskova, and others.
In 2018, the film received an award for an artistic contribution at the Tokyo International Film Festival.
