Photo works by Ufa native Karina Bikbulatova were recognized as best in international competition in London

A photographer from Ufa Karina Bikbulatova took the third place at the prestigious international competition Sony World Photography Awards in London, TASS reports with reference to the press service of the competition.
According to the agency, the 23-year-old Ufa native took the honorable third place in the “Discovery” nomination for a series of pictures “The Two Parallels — 10”. Ten photographs tell the story of two girls from Bashkortostan with very different fates who do not even realize that they have the same father.
Karina admits that thanks to the Sony World Photography Award she began to believe more in herself.
In the near future, the girl hopes to visit the exhibition of works of all the winners of the competition in London, among which will be a series of her photos. She has previously exhibited in Milan (Milan Triennale) and Barcelona (ValidFoto gallery) and was marked at leading photography contests.
The first place in the nomination in which the works of Bikbulatova were presented was taken by photographers from Italy — Marc Caimi and Valentina Piccinni.
This year, photographers from 195 countries submitted almost 326 thousand works for the competition, which was a record for the competition, which is held for the 12th time in a row.
Karina Bikbulatova was born in Ufa, studied at Moscow State Institute of Arts at the photo art department. She took part and won in all-Russian and international competitions. In 2017 she began her studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence. Since 2018 — Member of the Union of Photo Artists of Russia.
