Tourist Europe-Asia cycling path will pass through Bashkiria

UFA, 21 March 2019. /Bashinform News Agency/ translated by Tatiana Aksyutina/.

The project of creating a network of cycle routes in the region, from which the longest cycling track in the world through Russia can grow over time was presented at the specialized exhibition “Hunting. Fishing. Tourism ” in VDNH-EXPO UFA.

The project was initiated by the Bicycle Tourism Federation of the Republic of Bashkortostan. According to the Federation Chairman Ksenia Salazanova, Bashkiria seems to have been specially created for cycle tourism — the geography of the region allows making simple sporting, and at the same time educational cycle routes and the railways passing through the republic make logistics convenient.

The co-author of the cycling project is Anton Sazonov, known for the “Children of the World” bicycle expedition organized by him last year.

“In 2019 we will open the first section of the cycle path — this is a route between the cities of Abdulino and Miass. The section is divided into segments, and for each segment will be available GPS-track, a legend and a list of interesting places in the area. The endpoints of the segments for convenience are connected with railway stations. At the end of the season, we will give memorable signs for passing the Europe-Asia Cycle Path. Our project will be another good tool for the development of tourism in the region, ”said Anton Sazonov.

Cycling in the Republic of Bashkortostan is actively developing. Thus, in 2018, more than 20 thousand people took part in the festival Day of 1000 cyclists. The number of people using a bicycle in Ufa over the past four years has increased by 37%.

The official opening of the Europe-Asia Cycle Path will be held on May 1, 2019. The detailed information is posted on the project website.
