UFA, 18 March 2019. /Bashinform News Agency, Olga Murtazina/ translated by Tatiana Aksyutina/.
The “Tom Sawyer Fest” project to restore a historic environment will continue to work in Ufa. In 2018, volunteers restored house number 24 on Gogol Street. As it was announced, this season the neighboring house No. 26a was chosen, whose residents provided active assistance to volunteers.
The two-story wooden house No. 26a belonged to Professor Dmitry Tatarinov, a medicine professor. His descendants continue to live in this house. They kept the memorial office of the founder of the Bashkiria School of Therapy, and in order to protect the house from demolition, they managed to eliminate a demolition status.
The house No. 26a has no protection status deprived of the most valuable — decorative trim. The tasks of volunteers are to restore carved trim, historic doors, clean and paint the facade. Fundraising is announced to help them. Volunteers need to collect 50 thousand rubles during the season for wood trim, tools and materials, masks and gloves, food and water.
This quarter is planned for construction development, and, according to the project, houses No. 24 and No. 26a are subject to demolition. Volunteers hope to save them, having achieved their inclusion into the conservation registry.
