On December 27-29, a film from Bashkortostan "When It Was Snowing" directed by Roman Pozhidaev will be shown in one of the major cities of the Republic of Nigeria — Lagos. The film will be presented in the competition program of international short films.
"The cinema of Nigeria is experiencing an incredible movie boom. In the 2000-s, the Nigerian film industry became the second largest in the world in the number of annual premieres, surpassing the United States and second only to Indian Bollywood. Nigeria’s cinematography is Africa’s largest film industry in terms of income and number of films produced per year, and their films are known as Nollywood”, a scriptwriter Zuhra Burakaeva told the Bashinform News Agency.
Together with the largest film industry in Africa, the festival movement is also developing. The In-Short Festival is organized by the International Academy of Film and Television in partnership with Goethe-Institut Nigeria and is one of the most prestigious film forums for aspiring filmmakers from around the world. This year the festival motto is “Good Thinking, Good Movies”.
