Ufa airport is equipped with defibrillator to render help at cardiac arrest
UFA, 13 November 2018. /Bashinform News Agency, Elmira Sabirova/ translated by Tatiana Aksyutina/.
The waiting area of the passenger terminal (1) of the Ufa International Airport was equipped with an automatic defibrillator to assist passengers with a sudden cardiac arrest. It was established on the initiative of the Republican Cardiology Center.
The press service of the Ministry of Health RB explains that a special medical training is not required for the use of defibrillators, as the devices independently assess the correctness of the resuscitation in real time. For example, the device itself measures the heart rate and will not allow an electrical discharge to be made at a pulse rate above a certain value.
In July, more than 20 airport employees were trained in the first-aid treatment of acute cardiovascular diseases and mastered the skills of working with an automatic external defibrillator.
More than 300 thousand Russians die every year due to a sudden cardiac arrest. According to doctors, it is possible to restore heart rate only in the first 5-6 minutes. Therefore, in order to save a person’s life, it is extremely important that assistance should be rendered as soon as possible, even before the ambulance arrives.
It will be easy to find the defibrillator in the airport — by special directional signs. You can also ask the airport staff about its location.
The first in Bashkiria automatic external defibrillator was installed in the “Tsentralny” shopping mall in Ufa in December 2017. In the future, the project is planned to be implemented at the capital railway stations and in other cities and districts of the republic.
