Bashkortostan major denomination leaders met with Radiy Khabirov

On October 14, Acting Head of the Republic Radiy Khabirov met with the Chairman of the Central Spiritual Board of Muslims of Russia, the Supreme Mufti, Sheikh-ul-Islam Talgat Tadzhuddin and the head of the Bashkortostan Metropolis of the Moscow Patriarchate of the Russian Orthodox Church, Metropolitan of Ufa and Sterlitamak Nikon, the press-service of the Head of the Republic reports.
“I thank our esteemed Talgat Hazrat and His Grace Nikon for being able to meet me on Sunday evening, and to consult on a number of important issues. They do a lot for peace and interethnic harmony in our republic”, Radiy Khabirov wrote on his page on Facebook.
Orthodoxy and Islam are the leading denominations in the republic, their associations make up more than 89% of the total number of religious organizations: about 67% are Islam, 22% are Orthodoxy.
There are nine religious centers in the republic, 1,445 religious organizations of more than 22 different religious directions. There are more than 900 mosques, 200 Orthodox churches, 60 religious buildings of other denominations. In addition, two Jewish communities function in Ufa (they appeared in 1993 and 2000).
