Bashkortostan economic and investment potential was presented at Japan Embassy

On September 20 in Moscow, an official delegation of the Republic of Bashkortostan led by the Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of Bashkortostan Rustem Mardanov presented an economic and investment potential of the republic at the Embassy of Japan in the Russian Federation.
The event was attended by the heads of regional executive bodies, representatives of business circles of the region. The Japanese Minister and Deputy Head of the diplomatic mission of the Japanese Embassy in Russia Toshihiro Aiki, Minister of Economic Affairs of the Japanese Embassy in Russia Tsutomu Koizumi, general secretary of the Japan Business Club Okada Kunio, as well as representatives of 30 Japanese companies from various fields were present there from the Japanese side.
The event began with a meeting between Rustem Mardanov and Mr. Aiki. The parties discussed the priority areas of cooperation.
"We would like to adopt the experience of Japanese companies. First of all, it is IT, mechanical engineering spheres, issues related to the automotive industry", the Prime Minister said. "We should interact more substantively in the timber industry and agriculture areas".
Rustem Mardanov made a presentation of the republican economic potential. He told about the main economic indicators of the region for the first half of 2018. Thus, the gross regional product amounted to 13.2 billion dollars, the volume of industrial production – to 13.3 billion dollars, the volume of investments in fixed assets – to 1.5 billion dollars, the volume of agricultural production made 0.82 billion dollars.
"The foreign trade turnover of the republic for six months of this year has constituted $ 2.68 billion, which is 0.25 billion more than for the same period of 2017", the Prime Minister informed. "There are about 800 exporting enterprises in Bashkortostan, of which 90 percent are small and medium-sized businesses according to the results of the first half of 2018".
Rustem Mardanov highlighted the foreign trade turnover between Bashkortostan and Japan. In 2017, its volume amounted to 38.6 million dollars, of which 21.9 million were exports, 16.7 million — imports. In addition, he told his Japanese counterparts about work in the agrarian sphere of the republic, natural and tourist resources, modern health resorts in the region.
"We would like to invite you to major international events, which in the coming years will be held in Bashkortostan, in particular, in Ufa. This is the 4th Small Business Forum of the Regions of the SCO and BRICS member states, the Russian Industrial Forum, the AgroComplex Exhibition and the Russian Petrochemical and Gas Forum "Gas. Oil. Technology", summed up the Prime Minister.
Oleg Golov, the General Director of Development Corporation of the Republic of Bashkortostan, presented to colleagues the investment potential of our region. State support measures, advantages of residency in priority development areas and the implemented joint projects in the trade and economic sphere were announced.
Oleg Golov informed in detail about the investment sites in Bashkortostan. Currently, they include 113 land plots, 735 premises, 7 technoparks, and 12 industrial parks. Concluding his speech, he outlined investment intentions, including high-tech medicine, transport infrastructure, utilities, river ports, melioration, and energy.
Within the framework of the visit, negotiations were held between the business circles of the region and Japan. During the meeting, the investment proposals of the republic were announced to the companies present. These were enterprises operating in the field of robot, aircraft, engine, aircraft, machine, rocket, ship and automotive engineering, motorcycle, and tractor production, power, electrical and medical equipment, hydraulic systems and printing machines.
