Sabantuy was held in one of the largest parks in Montreal – Angrignon.
According to the Miras Center of Tatar culture, both native Canadians and representatives of numerous nationalities of the former Soviet Union took part in the festival — more than three hundred people. There was not enough space to designate all the cities on the Sabantuy map, where guests were invited to mark their homeland.
The program included folk songs with dances, playing kurai and kubyz musical instruments, author's reading of Rashida Tagirova's poems, performances of the "Sambo-Montreal" school, and traditional Sabantuy competitions — running in sacks, with spoons, yokes, rope pulling.
Guests of the festival were artists from Tatarstan Liliya Khayrullina and Airat Imashev, as well as representatives of the delegation of the Berlek Tatar community from Toronto, art collectives from Ottawa and Montreal. "It was a real holiday of peace and friendship," the participants of the event commented on.
