The new law of the Ministry of Industry and Trade RF, if adopted, could result in the closure of 16,000 pharmacies across Russia — 25.5% of the total.
"The bill of the Ministry of Industry and Trade opens for the grocery retail a possibility of selling drugs on the shelves of stores. It may become for pharmacies a factor of additional competition when the struggle for the buyer will be conducted not only between the pharmacies themselves but also between pharmacies and supermarkets", the Marketing Logic analytical agency explains.
Also, researchers believe that there may be an increase in the prices of medicines for the final buyer. Under forecasts, a rise in price may occur at the level of 11%.
