This year is a year of elections holding. The presidential elections already took place in March, and elections to the State Assembly RB are scheduled for September. The Head of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov answered a question from the audience regarding the structure of the next parliament of the republic.
"Indeed, in September elections to the State Assembly — the Kurultai of our republic to be held: 110 deputies will be elected. And, of course, this work has already begun, all parties are moving towards this event. Different parties will nominate their candidates differently, including through self-nominees. My understanding is the following: these elections should be open, free, fair and transparent. Anyone who would like to work for the benefit of our republic, regardless of which party he belongs to, regardless of what his ideas, except for extreme ones — these people have an opportunity to be elected to the State Assembly", said the Head of Bashkortostan.
According to him, the parliament should reflect the interests of the residents of our republic.
"I would like to see our parliament updated; unlikely it will be 100 hundred percent. I am sure that a significant part of the deputies, at least half of them, will participate in the 2018 elections. At the same time, it would be desirable that young, competent, modern people aged 35 to 45 years will be elected", stressed Rustem Khamitov. “We need an effective parliament. We need strong, reliable people who will defend the interests of all citizens of our republic".
