Large fine for sale and purchase of snowdrops is imposed in Russia

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of Russia urges citizens not to collect, sell or buy snowdrops, which are listed in the Red Book of the Russian Federation and are on the verge of extinction. This is reported by the newspaper "Izvestia" with reference to the department.
A fine for the damage caused to one shoot of the first flowering is 300 rubles. Destruction of the place of flowers growth will be punished for a sum of 450 thousand rubles per hectare.
In aggravating circumstances: sale, acquisition or transfer of snowdrops — the fine will increase by three times. The regional authorities will combat the illegal sale of snowdrops.
