Urals Forum discusses financial sector information security in Bashkiria

The tenth Ural Forum "Information Security of Financial Sphere" opened at "Bannoye" resort in the Abzelilovo district of Bashkortostan.
The initiator of the annual forum is the Bank of Russia with the support of the Government of Russia, the State Duma, the Ministry of Communications, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Federal Security Service, Roskomnadzor (Federal Supervision Agency for Information Technologies and Communications), Rossvyaz (Federal Agency for Communications) and FSTEC (Federal Service for Technical and Export Control) of Russia.
"Integrity and stable operation of the information security system is of strategic importance. The leakage of electronic documents can lead to very serious consequences", said the Deputy Chairman of the Bank of Russia Dmitry Skobelkin at the forum.
In general, at least 21 attacks by the criminal group Cobalt Strike were recorded in 2017. More than 240 credit institutions of the country were targeted. Only 11 attacks were successful. The amount of money theft exceeded 1.156 billion rubles. Such data was announced at the forum by Dmitry Skobelkin.
According to him, in the near future a Department of Information Security of the Bank of Russia will be created. It will become a competence center of financial organizations cyber-stability.
In addition, this year the Bank of Russia plans to develop draft national standards for information security. One of them is introduced from July 1, 2019. This national standard will determine a methodology for protecting information in financial and credit organizations.
Another direction is improvement of cyber security specialists training system. A professional standard for such specialists training will also be developed as soon as possible, the Deputy Chairman of the Bank of Russia added.
